What is edge painting?

Edge painting uses special-mixed paints applied to cover the entire edge, or side, of a card. It is usually applied to thicker stocks of 32pt or higher so there is enough surface on the edge to hold the color and make it stand out.

• Where it goes: around the outer edges of the card, framing the printed faces.
• Best on thick stock: 32pt and heavier gives the edge enough depth for a bold band of color.
• The effect: a striking color border that signals a premium, custom card.
• Good for: luxury business cards and high-end invitations.
