Question
How should a single fold brochure be oriented?
Answer
A single-fold (half-fold) brochure has one fold down the middle, which turns the flat sheet into a four-panel piece: a front cover, a back, and two inside panels. Getting the orientation right means planning which panel each part of your message lands on once the sheet is folded.
- One fold produces two panels per side, four panels in total
- Outside: the front cover on one panel, the back on the other
- Inside: the two panels form the spread readers see when they open it
- Design the flat sheet so each panel flips to the correct spot after folding
- Keep text clear of the fold line and check a folded mockup before printing
