Will the velvet coating affect my card's colors?
Answer
Velvet lamination does shift your colors slightly, and in a flattering way. Because the soft-touch coating absorbs light rather than reflecting it, tones read a touch deeper and more muted than they would under gloss.
- Dark tones: blacks and deep colors look richer and more saturated under the velvet layer.
- Bright whites: may appear a little warmer and softer than on a glossy stock.
- Overall contrast: the muted surface slightly lowers vibrancy, so mid-tones can look a shade subtler.
