What type of pen works best with Carbonless Forms?

Carbonless forms rely on pressure, so the best pen is the one that presses firmly and consistently. A standard ballpoint is ideal.

• Ballpoint pens apply the firm, concentrated pressure that activates the dye between sheets.
• Felt-tip pens and markers spread pressure too broadly, leaving faint or incomplete copies.
• Pencils can work in a pinch but are less reliable and easy to smudge.

Write with steady, deliberate strokes and every copy in the set comes through clearly.

No special pen is needed: carbonless (NCR) paper reacts to pressure, not to a particular ink. Rest the form on a hard, flat surface so the pressure reaches the bottom copy.
