Question
What file resolution do I need for large mounted prints?
Answer
Aim for 300 DPI at the final print size for sharp, detailed mounted prints.
- 300 DPI at full size is the standard for close-up viewing
- For very large formats over 36 inches viewed from a distance, 150 DPI can be acceptable
- Never upscale a small image to fake resolution. It turns soft and pixelated
- When unsure, submit the highest-resolution file you have and check the proof before printing
