Do I need a special file setup for clear card printing?
Answer
Clear card printing needs one extra step that regular cards do not: a dedicated white ink layer. On a transparent stock, anything you want to appear white or opaque has to be told to print, or it shows through as clear.
- Add a separate spot color layer named "White" for every element that should be opaque.
- Submit files in CMYK at 300 DPI.
- Include 0.125" bleed on all sides.
- Without the white layer, those areas print transparent.
