How do I set up my files for binding?

Each binding method has its own margin and bleed needs, so the safest approach is to set up your file for the specific method before you design around the edges. Get the interior clearances right and the finished piece reads cleanly.

- Add bleed: include 0.125 inch of bleed on all sides so trimming leaves no white edges.
- Keep text safe: hold important text away from the bound edge and the trim.
- Use a template: a binding-specific template removes the guesswork on margins and hole placement.
