Question
Will a proof made from an RGB file show accurate printed colors?
Answer
All jobs are converted to CMYK before printing, and sometimes the conversion from RGB to CMYK can cause a color shift, but it is not on all colors. It is not possible to know until the conversion is done.
- Vivid blues, greens, and neon tones tend to shift the most, while many everyday colors stay close.
- Your monitor's calibration also changes how a color looks on screen, and a printer has no way of knowing how your monitor is calibrated.
- To keep the most control, build and convert your file to CMYK yourself before uploading.
If colors are important, order a hard copy color proof.
