Can 4OVER4 guarantee perfect borders or cuts on printed products?
Answer
Perfectly even borders cannot be guaranteed on standard trimming because batch cutting shifts slightly.
- Cutting drift: guillotine cutting is done in stacks and can move up to about 1/16 inch in either direction.
- Why borders are risky: thin or uneven borders exaggerate any shift, so full-bleed designs that run color off the edge look cleaner.
- Safe zone: keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line.
- Need it exact? Die-cutting holds a tighter tolerance than straight trimming for precise shapes.
