Question
What information do I need to provide for a folded brochure or leaflet printing order?
Answer
Giving your printer complete specifications up front is the fastest way to get an accurate quote and avoid production delays on a folded brochure or leaflet. The fold is the detail most people forget, so be as specific as you can about how the piece should open.
- Flat size and folded size: the dimensions before and after folding.
- Fold type: tri-fold, z-fold, accordion, double parallel, closed gate fold, and so on.
- Number of panels: how many sections the fold creates.
- Paper: the stock type and weight.
- Ink: process colors plus any Pantone (PMS) spot colors.
- Quantity: the count for each design or version.
- Delivery date: when you need it in hand.
If you are unsure how the fold should work, fold a quick paper prototype by hand and send photos or a 3D mockup. A physical reference removes any doubt about panel order and which side faces out.
