What finishing options are available?
Banner finishing is about how the piece hangs and holds up once it leaves the printer. The right choice depends on where you are mounting it and how much wind or handling it will face.
- Grommets: metal eyelets punched along the edges so you can hang the banner with rope, zip ties, or bungee cords.
- Pole pockets: sewn sleeves along the top and bottom (or sides) that slide over poles for a taut, professional hang.
- Hemmed edges: folded and welded borders that strengthen the perimeter and stop fraying for a clean finish.
- Reinforced corners: extra material at stress points for banners that face wind or frequent setup and takedown.
For outdoor and repeated use, combine hemmed edges with grommets. For a framed, banner-stand look, pole pockets are usually the better fit.
On paper products, finishing is instead about surface and feel, and the finish is as much a design decision as the artwork:
- Gloss: a shiny coating for vivid, high-contrast color.
- Matte: a flat, glare-free surface that is easy to read and write on.
- Soft-touch lamination: a plush, velvety film with a premium, durable feel.
- Spot UV: glossy, raised accents that draw the eye to a logo or headline against a matte base.
- Uncoated: a natural, tactile, writable paper surface.
- Specialty effects: pressed and tactile options such as debossing on products that support them.
Availability varies by stock and format, so check the finish options listed on the specific product page.
