Question

What file formats are accepted for Rack Cards?

Answer

A print-ready PDF is the safest choice for rack cards, because it locks your fonts, colors, and layout in place exactly as designed. Other standard design formats work too, as long as the file is built to print specs.

  • PDF (preferred): flatten transparencies and embed all fonts
  • AI and EPS: vector files with fonts converted to outlines
  • PSD and TIFF: flatten layers before exporting

Whatever format you use, build the file to these specs:

RequirementSetting
Resolution300 DPI
Color modeCMYK
Bleed0.125" on all sides
Safe marginKeep key text 0.125" to 0.25" inside the trim
FontsEmbedded or outlined

Starting from a blank template for the exact trim size is the easiest way to avoid setup errors.
