Answer
QR codes need a minimum footprint to scan reliably. The smallest recommended size is 0.75" x 0.75". Go below that and many phone cameras struggle to read the code, especially in lower light.
To keep a code scannable:
- Size it at 0.75" x 0.75" or larger
- Leave clear quiet space around all four sides
- Keep strong contrast, a dark code on a light background
- Build it at 300 DPI or higher so the edges stay crisp
Always test the code before finalizing the design to confirm it scans quickly from a normal reading distance.
