Question

How are booklet pages counted for perfect bound books?

Answer

For perfect bound books, the page count includes both the inside pages and the cover pages, and the total needs to be an even number. Counting the cover as part of the total keeps the file setup aligned with how the book is actually assembled.

  • Example: 88 inside pages plus 4 cover pages equals 92 total pages.
  • The cover contributes its own pages to the count.
  • The final total must be even.
  • Higher page totals produce a thicker, printable spine.

When you set up separate cover and interior files, make sure they add up to your intended total so the finished book matches your plan.
