Question

What's the difference between back and face adhesive?

Answer

Back and face adhesive describe which side of the label the glue sits on, which changes how and where the label is applied, especially on glass.

  • Back adhesive: glue is on the back of the label. On a window it applies to the outside surface and is read from the front
  • Face adhesive: glue is on the printed face. On a window it applies to the inside surface and is read from outside through the glass
  • Face adhesive is common for clear labels applied to the inside of storefront or vehicle glass
  • Choose based on which side of the surface you can reach and which side viewers see from
