How to can I remove a decal or sticker from a surface?
Answer
Decals and stickers come off cleanly when the adhesive is warmed first so it releases instead of tearing. Take your time and work one section at a time.
- Begin by heating one corner of the marking with a blow dryer, heat lamp, hot water, or heat gun until it is hot to the touch
- Lift the warmed corner and peel back slowly at a low angle
- Keep reheating the edge as you go so the adhesive stays soft and the graphic does not tear
- Remove any leftover adhesive residue with an appropriate adhesive remover, then clean the surface
Working with gentle, steady heat is the key to lifting the graphic without damaging the surface underneath.
