How Should You Set Up Your Magnet Design File?

Setting up your magnet file correctly is where most print problems start, so a few settings are worth getting right before you upload.

• Use CMYK color, not RGB. RGB is built for screens, while CMYK is how the file actually prints. Upload RGB and your colors can shift, turning a bright red muddy.
• Set resolution to 300 DPI minimum. Anything lower makes text fuzzy and logos pixelated.
• Build to the right trim size and add bleed. Extend the background about 0.0625 inches past every edge so no white slivers show after cutting.
• Keep a safety margin. Hold important text and logos at least 0.125 inches inside the trim line, since a small shift during cutting is normal and you do not want to lose a digit of your phone number.
