Question
Will adhesive strips work on freshly painted walls?
Answer
Not right away. Fresh paint needs time to fully cure before it can hold any adhesive, and rushing it usually pulls the paint off when you remove the strip.
- Wait at least 7 days for latex paint to cure before applying any adhesive. Oil-based paint can take longer.
- Applying too early risks lifting the paint and leaving a damaged patch behind.
- Test a small, hidden spot first if you are unsure how well the paint has set.
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry, and dust-free so the adhesive bonds evenly.
