Question
What Image Resolution Do I Need?
Answer
Aim for 150 to 300 DPI at your final print size. That range keeps the image sharp on metal without demanding an unnecessarily huge file.
| Print size | Target pixels at 200 DPI |
|---|---|
| 16 x 20 in | about 3,200 x 4,000 px |
| 24 x 36 in | about 4,800 x 7,200 px |
| 30 x 40 in | about 6,000 x 8,000 px |
- Most modern DSLR and mirrorless cameras produce files large enough for prints up to 30 x 40 without issue.
- Smartphone photos are fine for smaller sizes but often fall short on large-format panels.
- Check the preview after uploading, because stretching a low-resolution image across a large panel looks blurry and no sharpening will fix it.
