What should I know about foil stamping and registration accuracy?

Foil stamping is applied on a separate machine from the main print run, so a slight registration shift of up to 1/16 inch is possible. Designing with that tolerance in mind keeps the result looking clean.
- Fine details or elements that must line up exactly may show slight movement.
- Give foil elements a little breathing room so a small shift is not noticeable.
- Avoid tight registration between the foil and the printed artwork underneath.
- Discuss any critical alignment with the team before production.
