What paper weight works best for handmade envelopes?
Paper weight sets the balance between how easily an envelope folds and how premium it feels. Lighter stock is forgiving, heavier stock looks upscale but demands more care.

For a large, consistent run of heavyweight envelopes, professional scoring and folding gives a cleaner result than hand assembly.
For most handmade envelopes, 60lb to 80lb text is the sweet spot: sturdy enough to protect what is inside, yet it folds cleanly without cracking. Kraft paper is very forgiving to fold, and linen-textured stock gives invitations a formal feel. Avoid anything heavier than 80lb cover unless you can score it first.
