Card thickness is measured in points (pt), where one point equals one-thousandth of an inch. At 32pt a card is roughly twice the thickness of a standard 16pt card, which gives it a stiff, substantial, premium feel in the hand.
That extra thickness makes 32pt a good fit for pieces that should feel high-end or hold up to handling:
