Question

What file format should I use for laminated business cards?

Answer

Laminated cards use the same print-ready file requirements as any other card. A properly built PDF gives you accurate color and clean trimming under the laminate.

  • Format - PDF is the safest choice. AI, PSD, and EPS also work.
  • Color - CMYK, not RGB.
  • Resolution - 300 DPI.
  • Bleed - include 0.125" bleed marks so trimming stays clean.

Build the file the same way you would for an unlaminated card. The lamination is added in production.
