Question
Are business cards the same size everywhere in the world?
Answer
No, business card sizes vary by region. The card that fits perfectly in a North American cardholder can sit slightly off in a European or Japanese one, since each market settled on its own standard proportion. If you do business across borders, printing region-specific sizes keeps your card seating cleanly wherever you hand it over.
| Region | Size (in) | Size (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| United States / Canada | 3.5 x 2 | 89 x 51 |
| Europe | 3.346 x 2.165 | 85 x 55 |
| Japan | 3.582 x 2.165 | 91 x 55 |
- European and Japanese cards are taller and narrower than the US rectangle.
- For frequent international contact, keep a set of each size on hand.
