How should I specify my booklet dimensions and binding?
Answer
Always order to the finished (folded) size, meaning the dimensions of the booklet when it is closed and ready to hand out. Saddle-stitched booklets are built from folded sheets, so the way you plan your page count matters.
- Give the finished, closed size you want, not the flat spread size.
- Count every page including the front and back covers when you plan your total.
- Keep the total page count in multiples of 4, since each folded sheet adds four pages.
- Have a custom size or a very high page count in mind? Ask your printer what binds cleanly.
