Send an Invitation Worth Keeping
Long before the candle lighting or the first dance, the invitation arrives to announce that a child is stepping into adulthood, and guests read it as the opening note of the whole simcha. It carries the child's name, the date and the details, so it is worth getting right. Browse the full range on invitations printing.
Twenty-five invitations cover family and close friends; once the whole class and the congregation go on the list, a bigger run brings the price per card down.
What Are Bar and Bat Mitzvah Invitations
They are the cards a family sends to invite guests to a child's coming-of-age ceremony and the celebration that follows, set to match the tone of the day, formal or relaxed. For reply and detail cards, the Invitation Cards complete the suite, and the Save the Date Cards hold the weekend for out of town family months earlier.
What to Include on a Bar or Bat Mitzvah Invitation
The card carries two events and a request: the child's full name, in English and, where the family uses it, in Hebrew; who is inviting; the civil date with the Hebrew date beside it if you want it; the synagogue and the service time; the reception venue, address and start time; and a reply date with a way to answer. Put anything long, such as the weekend schedule, a hotel block or directions, on the back with 4/4 printing.
What Size Should the Invitation Be
A 4.25" x 5.5" is the classic, formal shape for a shorter invitation. A 5" x 7" fits a full schedule of the weekend, and a 6" x 6" square suits a design built around a photograph or a monogram. Settle the size first, since it decides the envelope. For a card that opens, the Folded Invitations add inside panels.
Printing Hebrew Names and Dates
The Hebrew name is the line nobody wants to see wrong in print, and three things keep it intact.
- Outline the fonts, or send the font file. A missing font substitutes silently on press; converting the text to outlines turns the letters into artwork. Do it after the final proofread, since outlined text cannot be edited.
- Check the right to left order. Design tools not built for Hebrew can reverse the character order or push the final letter to the wrong end of the line, so read the Hebrew on the proof letter by letter.
- Check the transliteration against the English. The Hebrew name, its English spelling and both dates have to agree; have someone who reads Hebrew check the proof, not the file.
Fine serifs and vowel points hold better on a smooth gloss or uncoated stock than on a deep linen when the name is set small.
Pick a stock that feels like the day
The white and premium linens add a woven feel, the metallic pearls catch the light for a formal celebration, and the 24pt and 26pt ultra thick cards feel substantial. Cream and kraft uncoated read warm and traditional, and several stocks carry recycled content up to 100% post-consumer. Rounded corners at 1/8" or 3/8" and the matching white wove envelopes are optional, and the envelopes make the mailing look finished.
Design it without a designer

Wally gets the invitation right before the run
Why the first card guests see is worth a proof and the right stock.

A bar or bat mitzvah invitation is the first card guests hold. Pick a size, choose a stock from gloss to metallic pearl, add the optional white wove envelopes, and check a free proof before Wally sends it to press. Same-day printing keeps you covered when the date is close.
How Much Do Bar and Bat Mitzvah Invitations Cost
A run of 700 works out near 15 cents a card, and 6,000 land close to 4 cents each. Stock, finish, envelopes and speed adjust the total. The slider below covers the first six tiers, from 25 to 400.
What the Proof Shows You
Choose the free online proof to check four things that cannot be fixed once a run is printed: the trim line, where anything that must look centered is judged; the bleed, so no white sliver shows on the cut edge; the live area, where names and dates sit safely inside the trim; and the spelling in both alphabets, read out loud against the wording you agreed with the family. A next-day hardcopy proof shows the real ink on the real stock, and the production clock starts at approval.

Bar Bat Mitzvah Invitations: Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should bar or bat mitzvah invitations be sent?
Allow guests time to plan travel: several weeks for local guests, and more when many are flying in and need a hotel block. Work back from your mailing day, adding production after proof approval and shipping on top.
Can the parents' names and the Hebrew date both go on the front?
Yes, the wording is yours. On the 4.25" x 5.5" keep the front to the names and dates and move the reception details to the back, so the type stays large enough to read.
