Question
What file format and resolution should I use for banner designs?
Answer
For banners, supply a print-ready PDF in CMYK built at the finished size. Because banners are viewed from a distance, you do not need a full 300 DPI at the final large size.
| Banner size | Resolution at actual print size |
|---|---|
| Large-format | 100 to 150 DPI is typically sufficient |
| Smaller banners | Higher DPI for close-up sharpness |
- Build the file at the finished size and add bleed
- Keep key text away from the edges
- Lower DPI on big prints keeps the file manageable without losing sharpness at viewing distance
Options and turnaround can vary by product and may change, so please confirm the latest details on the product page or with 4OVER4 support.
