What file formats are accepted for newsletters?
A print-ready PDF is the safest choice for newsletters, because it locks your fonts, colors, and layout in place exactly as designed. Other standard design formats work too, as long as the file is built to print specs.
- PDF (preferred): flatten transparencies and embed all fonts
- AI and EPS: vector files with fonts converted to outlines
- PSD and TIFF: flatten layers before exporting
Whatever format you use, build the file to these specs:

Press-ready PDF is preferred here because a multi-page newsletter has a lot of fonts and images to keep aligned, and a flattened PDF preserves all of it. Make sure every font is embedded or outlined.
Starting from a blank template for the exact trim size is the easiest way to avoid setup errors.
