Question
Can envelopes be printed with bleed or do they have margin requirements?
Answer
Envelopes are not printed to the bleed the way flat cards are, so designs need a margin instead of edge-to-edge color. Keeping content off the edges avoids problems at the seams and folds during production.
| Spec | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Bleed | Not available on envelopes |
| Margin | 0.25" from every edge |
- Keep all text, logos, and artwork inside the 0.25" safe margin.
- Avoid running backgrounds to the edge, since seams and glued flaps can distort them.
- Account for window position if your envelope style has one.
Designing within the safe area keeps your return address and branding crisp and correctly placed.
