Question
What bleed allowance should I add to my design file for retractable banner stands?
Answer
Add 1/8 inch (0.125") of bleed on all four sides of your retractable banner design. That margin gives the finished graphic full edge-to-edge coverage once the file is trimmed and loaded into the stand, so no unprinted paper shows along the borders.
- Extend background colors and imagery a full 0.125" past the trim on the top, bottom, and both sides.
- Remember the bottom few inches of most retractable graphics roll into the base cassette, so keep logos and key text well above that zone.
- Keep essential copy at least 0.5" inside the trim line so it stays clear of the edges and the retract mechanism.
| Element | Guideline |
|---|---|
| Bleed | 0.125" on all 4 sides |
| Safe zone for text/logos | 0.5" inside trim, higher than the base area |
| Resolution | Design at the final print size |
