Question

Can lenticular posters be framed under glass?

Answer

Lenticular posters can be framed, but framing them under glass may reduce or eliminate the 3D effect. The glass can interfere with the viewing angles the lens needs to show its multiple images.

  • Skip the glass: displaying the poster open lets viewers catch the full depth and motion.
  • Use frameless mounting: standoff or frameless mounts hold the piece while keeping the lens visible at proper angles.
  • If you must use a frame: choose a shadow-box or spacer setup that keeps glass off the lens surface, and keep the print flat so the lenses sit correctly.
  • Pick clear glazing: standard clear glass or acrylic shows the effect better than non-glare glass, which softens it.
