Question
What surfaces are recommended for installing decals or vinyl?
Answer
When you install vinyl, applying it to the right kind of surface makes all the difference, because the product needs a surface it can readily adhere to. Smooth, clean, non-porous surfaces give the strongest, longest-lasting bond.
- Best results: smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces such as glass, painted metal, sealed painted walls, and finished plastic
- Prepare first: the surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust and grease
- Harder surfaces: rough, textured, porous, or flaking surfaces resist adhesion and shorten the life of the graphic
- Temperature: apply within the recommended range so the adhesive can grab
