Question

What is the difference between 18pt rigid vinyl and 20pt plastic?

Answer

Just the thickness. Both 18 pt rigid vinyl and 20 pt plastic are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), so they share the same durable, waterproof material. The only meaningful difference is caliper: 20 pt is slightly thicker and therefore a touch more rigid than 18 pt.

StockMaterialThickness
18 pt rigid vinylPVC0.018 in
20 pt plasticPVC0.020 in
  • Same PVC base, so both are waterproof, tear resistant, and built to last.
  • The 20 pt stock adds a small amount of thickness and stiffness over the 18 pt.
  • For most uses the two feel very similar. Pick based on how rigid you want the final card.
