Question
What's the standard size for Custom Letterhead?
Answer
The standard US letterhead size is 8.5 x 11 inches, the same dimensions as a sheet of printer paper. It slides into a #10 business envelope, feeds through every desktop printer, and photocopies without any resizing. If your design carries color or a graphic all the way to the edge, you will need bleed so nothing important gets trimmed off.
| Spec | Measurement |
|---|---|
| Trim size (US Letter) | 8.5 x 11 in |
| Full-bleed file size | 8.75 x 11.25 in (add 0.125 in per side) |
| Safe zone for text and logos | keep 0.25 in from every trim edge |
| International equivalent (A4) | 8.27 x 11.69 in |
- 8.5 x 11 fits a #10 envelope folded in thirds and mails at standard letter postage.
- Only add bleed if a color or image touches the edge. A design that floats on white does not need it.
- Export as a print-ready PDF at 300 DPI in CMYK for the most accurate color.
