Question
Which design tradition fits what my project needs to do?
Answer
Match the designer's style to what your project needs to accomplish. Each tradition suits a different goal.
| If your project is... | Look to... |
|---|---|
| Color-forward, optical work | Cruz-Diez and kinetic art principles |
| Message-driven or nonprofit | Martinez and the Verdadism approach |
| Street-level energy, bold type | Quinones and the graffiti tradition |
| Poster and editorial layouts | Magallanes |
The right influence depends on your audience and goals, so start from the outcome you want and work back to the style.
