Question

Can I create any shape I want, or are there limitations?

Answer

You have a lot of creative freedom with custom shapes, but paper and material physics set some practical limits. Very thin extensions or extremely fine detail can weaken the piece and may not survive handling.

  • Keep narrow points and thin necks at least 1/4 inch wide so they do not tear.
  • Avoid tiny internal cutouts and hairline detail that the die cannot hold cleanly.
  • Simple, bold outlines cut more reliably than intricate filigree.
  • If you are unsure whether a shape will hold up, have the file reviewed before printing.
