Question

What resolution should my flyer images be?

Answer

All images in a flyer should be at least 300 DPI in CMYK color mode. Anything lower looks fine on screen but turns soft or pixelated once it is printed, because print needs far more detail than a monitor does. Keep these points in mind:

  • 300 DPI minimum - the baseline for crisp printed images.
  • 72 or 150 DPI - fine for web, too low for print.
  • CMYK - convert from RGB so colors do not shift.
  • No upscaling - enlarging a small image will not add real detail.

Start from the highest-resolution source you have, since you can size a large image down but cannot add detail back once it is gone.
