Will linen paper show scuff marks when die-cut?
Answer
Yes, it can. Linen has a woven texture, and when it is die-cut against solid, dark background colors, scuff marks can appear along the cut areas during production.
- When it shows most: die-cut pieces with heavy, solid color coverage right up to the edges.
- Why it happens: the raised linen texture is more prone to marking as it moves through the cutting process.
- Better alternatives: a standard smooth cardstock or a gloss finish, which mask handling marks far better on dark solids.
If your design relies on a rich solid background, a smooth or coated stock is the safer choice for a clean, mark-free result.
