Question
How long do vinyl decals last outdoors?
Answer
Laminated vinyl decals generally last 3 to 5 years outdoors, with sun exposure and weather being the main factors. A UV-resistant laminate is what buys most of that lifespan.
| Decal type | Outdoor lifespan |
|---|---|
| Laminated vinyl | 3 to 5 years |
| Unlaminated vinyl | 12 to 18 months |
- UV lamination slows color fading and protects against weathering.
- Decals in constant direct sun wear faster than shaded ones.
- Applying to a clean, smooth surface helps the decal reach its full lifespan.
