How much white space should a business card have?

Aim to leave roughly 30 to 40 percent of the card empty. White space, also called negative space, is not wasted room. It gives the eye a place to rest, makes your key details easier to scan, and signals a confident, professional design.

• Group related items and put clear gaps between the groups so nothing runs together.
• Keep a safe margin around the edges, since anything too close to the trim risks being cut.
• Let the most important element, usually your name or logo, sit in open space so it stands out.
• If everything does not fit, trim non-essential details rather than shrinking type or closing up spacing.

A slightly emptier card almost always reads better than a crowded one. Restraint is what makes a card feel premium.
