Question

How do lenticular cards work and what stock do you use?

Answer

Lenticular cards create their motion effect through a ridged plastic lens printed with interlaced images, so as the viewing angle changes the card appears to flip or animate. They are printed on a thick lenticular plastic cardstock.

  • You supply multiple image files, typically four, each showing a different position of the subject.
  • Those images are interlaced and printed to the lenses so they animate at different angles.
  • Printing and interlacing are handled in-house.
  • Design services are not offered for lenticular cards, so a designer needs to create the individual image files.

If you have the individual frames ready, the production side takes care of turning them into the finished lenticular card.
