What finishes are available for printed invitations?
Finishing is where an invitation goes from printed to memorable. Each option changes how the card catches light and feels in the hand.
| Finish | Look and feel | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Gloss | Shiny, colors pop | Photo-heavy designs |
| Matte | Smooth, low glare | Elegant, understated invites |
| Soft-touch | Velvety, high-end texture | Weddings, luxury events |
| Spot UV | Raised, shiny accents | Highlighting names or motifs |
| Uncoated | Natural, writable surface | Rustic and handwritten styles |
Spot UV pairs especially well with a matte base, since the shine stands out against the flat background.
Specialty invitation pages add more: foil stamping in gold, silver, copper, rose gold, red, black or blue on foil wedding invitations, and embossing, foil, spot UV, edge painting and die-cut shapes on embossed wedding invitations. Velvet and silk laminated invitations give a soft, premium surface. Several effects combine on one card, for example foil with spot UV, or embossing on the front and the back.
