What file specifications do I need for aluminum or metal products?

Aluminum and metal products, such as dry-erase signs and metal business cards, have one file requirement that sets them apart from paper products: your print-ready PDF must include a color bar at the bottom.

Why it matters and how to include it:

• The color bar gives the press a reference to calibrate against, which keeps color reproduction accurate on metal substrates
• Place it at the bottom of the file so it stays outside the finished artwork area
• Otherwise supply a standard print-ready PDF in CMYK with correct bleed

Leaving the color bar off is the most common reason a metal file gets sent back, so build it in before you upload.
