What are varnishes?

Varnishes are liquid coatings printed onto the surface of a print job. They go down like an extra layer of ink on press, sealing and finishing the sheet while changing how light reflects off the printed piece.

• Applied as a coating on top of the printed surface, adding a layer of protection against scuffs and handling.
• Available in different looks, from a glossy sheen that boosts shine to a matte finish that softens reflections.
• Can be run as a flood over the entire sheet or as a spot varnish over specific areas for contrast.
