What are printing finishes and why do they matter?

Printing finishes are treatments applied after the ink is down. They add texture, shine, or dimension that flat printing cannot produce on its own, and they are usually the reason a piece feels expensive the moment someone picks it up.
- Foil stamping presses metallic or colored foil onto the surface for a reflective, high-end accent on logos and type.
- Embossing and debossing raise or press the paper to create a tactile, three-dimensional impression.
- Spot UV lays a glossy, raised coating over specific areas so they catch the light against a matte background.
