Does an oversized postcard cost more to mail?

Usually, yes. Once a card passes the 4.25 by 6 inch postcard maximum it stops earning the postcard rate, so it mails at letter prices instead, and 6" x 9" is the usual ceiling before a piece gets priced as a flat. Weigh a printed sample and confirm the class at your post office before the drop.
