How Do You Hang an Outdoor Banner?
How you plan to mount the banner decides which finishing you want. Grommets are metal rings punched into the edge so you can zip-tie or rope the banner to a fence, a frame, or a wall, in the corners only or every 2 feet for a bigger banner in the wind. Reinforced hems fold and seal the edge so it does not fray or tear when the wind pulls on it, on the top and bottom or all 4 sides. Pole pockets sew an open sleeve into the edge so you can slide a pole or a rope straight through, top and bottom for a hanging banner or left and right for a pole-mounted one.

- Bungee cords, not rigid zip ties. Zip ties hold the banner rigid, so every gust is absorbed by the vinyl and the grommet. Bungees stretch and give the banner somewhere to move, which is why they are what stays up after a storm.
Pull the banner taut on all four sides when you hang it. A slack banner flaps, and flapping is what works a grommet loose and creases the print.
