# What paper weight does 250gsm convert to in pounds?

A stock of 250gsm lands in the heavy cover-stock range, roughly comparable to about a 90lb cover in the pound (#) system used on many product pages. The reason there is no single exact answer is that gsm-to-pound conversions shift depending on the paper category, since text, cover, and index papers each use a different base sheet size. Approx. gsm Rough cover-stock equivalent 216 gsm about 80lb cover 245 to 270 gsm about 90 to 100lb cover 300 gsm+ about 110lb cover and heavier Always confirm the exact weight against the specific stock, since the same gsm can convert differently for text versus cover paper. When in doubt, ask your printer for the precise pound rating.

| Approx. gsm | Rough cover-stock equivalent |
| --- | --- |
| 216 gsm | about 80lb cover |
| 245 to 270 gsm | about 90 to 100lb cover |
| 300 gsm+ | about 110lb cover and heavier |

- Always confirm the exact weight against the specific stock, since the same gsm can convert differently for text versus cover paper.
- When in doubt, ask your printer for the precise pound rating.
