# What file format should I submit for printing-can I use a scan?

A scan will not hold up to professional printing, so most printers will not print from one. Scanned images lack the resolution, color setup, and bleed a press needs. Instead, submit one of these: A print-ready PDF built in CMYK at 300 DPI with proper bleed. A design made in an online design tool that exports to print-ready specs. If all you have is a scanned original, a designer can rebuild it as a clean print-ready file before you submit.

Scans lack the resolution, color setup and bleed a press needs, so submit a CMYK print-ready PDF at 300 DPI instead.
