# Do sequential numbers work for carbon copy tracking?

Sequential numbering and carbon copies are two separate features that often get mixed up. Here is how they differ and how they work together. Feature What it does Sequential numbering Prints a running number (0001, 0002, and so on) on each piece for tracking or inventory. Carbon copy (NCR) Uses pressure-sensitive layers so a written entry transfers to the copies underneath. Products that commonly use both include receipts, invoices, work orders, and gift certificates. These are usually quoted individually, and a quote request typically covers: Quantity and number of parts (2-part, 3-part, and so on) Stock and size Finish and whether you want sequential numbering added
